NEW £1 COIN

New Bi Metallic One Pound Coin – 2017 / Deletion of Old Circular £1 Coin

The Royal Mint introduced the new Bi Metallic 12 sided version of the £1 coin into UK circulation and Demonetisation the Old £1 with effect from 15th October 2017

Details as follows:-

The new coin appears similar in shape and size to the old Three penny piece from pre decimalisation but is made of two metals, like the current £2 coin.

The coin acceptance mechanisms in our current Solitaire Payphone range (Solitaire 2000, 6000 / 6000HS) use a sophisticated set of induction coils to evaluate metallic content of coins that pass through the runway.

The Royal Mint has confirmed that from the 15th October 2017 the Old Circular £1 Coin will be demonetised and have its legal tender status removed. Read more.
